The Solidum Event Linked Securities Fund, SAC Fund 3 is a fund within the Solidum Event Linked Securities Fund Limited, an Open-end Segregated Accounts Company licensed in Bermuda and founded in 2004.
The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation with low correlation to fixed income, equity and alternative investments. The Fund holds a diversified portfolio of rights, obligations and securities, such as bonds, notes, preference shares, swaps, options, and other equity or derivative-type instruments, of which the return of notional value and/or payment of compensation for assuming insurance event risk is contingent upon the non-occurrence of a specific event. The portfolio is actively managed in order to optimize results in the context of prevailing market situations.
The SAC Fund 3 invests in ILS securities which can have illiquid characteristics such as, but not limited to, transformed reinsurance contracts, retrocession contracts, sidecars etc. Catastrophe bonds and other more liquid ILS investment instruments can be used for the optimisation of the portfolio.
The Solidum Event Linked Securities Fund, SAC Fund 3 is positioned to offer its investors a higher return potential than a cat-bond only fund, together with a similar broad diversification to other asset classes. In order to achieve this alternative instruments used include ‘private’ cat bonds and transformed reinsurance contracts which provide the portfolio with reinsurance exposures.
The Fund currently offers share classes in USD. Further currency classes may be introduced in the future. Institutional share classes are available for investments exceeding defined volume thresholds.
